Acklin Drops 14 Points

Rochester, N.Y. - Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 14 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double, but it wasn't enough as the Post University women's basketball team lost, 66-51 to Roberts Wesleyan in an out-of-conference game.

The Eagles are now 3-11 overall and 3-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The first half was full of big runs as Post fell behind 11-2 during the first 2:13 of the first half before the Eagles went on a 7-0 run of there own over the next 1:35. During that stretch, freshman Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) made a three-pointer and classmate Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) and Acklin each chipped in with a layup.

However, the Redhawks would then go on a 9-0 run of their own afterwards to go up 20-9.

Post wouldn't go away easy, going on an 18-6 run and taking a 27-26.

The lead didn't last long as the Redhawks went on a 10-2 run to end the half to go up 36-27 at the break.

Acklin scored 10 points in the half and Childs-Harris scored six.

Samantha Courtney had nine points in the first half to lead the Redhawks.

Roberts Wesleyan would gradually pull away in the second half, as the Eagles would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Deren would finish with nine points for the Eagles. Childs-Harris finished with seven.

Marissa Sell led four Redhawks in double figures with 14 points. She also grabbed 14 rebounds. Courtney finished with 11 points.
