Box Score Caldwell, NJ - The Post University women's basketball team led early, but could not hold on as it dropped an 81-54 decision to Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
With the loss, the Eagles drop to 3-12 and 3-3 in the CACC. The Cougars improved to 9-7 overall and 6-1 in the CACC.
Post jumped out to an early 10-4 lead over the first 6:08 of the game thanks to four points apiece from junior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore
Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.). The Eagles would lead until the 7:35 mark of the first half before the Cougars took their first lead, 17-15. They would not relinquish that lead the rest of the half and take a 38-29 lead into the locker room.
Acklin, who finished with 15 points in the game, scored nine in the first half. Freshman
Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) scored five points in the first half.
Caldwell's Emily Caswell went into halftime with eight points and 12 rebounds. She finished the game with 10 points and 22 rebounds.
The Cougars jumped out to an 18-8 lead to open the second half and led comfortably the rest of the way for the win.
Deren finished with eight points for the Eagles. Sophomore
Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) scored six points.
Antoinette Pilla led the Cougars in scoring with 17 points. Karlie O'Driscoll scored 14.
Up next for the Eagles is a home game against Concordia on Jan. 13. Game time scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
