Eagles Drop CACC Game To Holy Family

Acklin Leads The Way With 11 Points

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Holy Family, 80-50 at the Drubner Center on Sunday afternoon.

The loss was the second straight for the Eagles, who are now 5-14 on the season and 5-5 in the CACC. The Tigers improved to 12-7 overall and 9-2 in the CACC.
Post fell behind 14-7 with 14:20 but went on a 14-7 run – capped by a three-pointer from freshman Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) over the next 6:33 to take a 22-21 lead with 7:47 remaining in the half. The teams would exchange leads two more times before the Tigers went into the half with a 32-27 lead.

Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored eight of her team-high 11 points in the half. Freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) scored all eight of her points in the first half, thanks in large part to two three-pointers.

It was a rough start in the second half for the Eagles, as they didn't make a field goal until freshman Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) made a layup with 14:15 remaining in the half. That made it a 49-31 Tigers lead. The Eagles wouldn't get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Sophomore Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) scored eight points off of the bench for the Eagles.

Kasey Woetzel led the way for the Tigers, finishing with 22 points. Jill Conroy added 14 points and Sarah Pawlak had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is a home game against Dominican on Jan. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
