WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team returns home on Saturday afternoon to face Holy Family. The Tigers are tied atop the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division with an 8-2 record. The Eagles are in first place in the North Division with a 7-3 record. Post has defeated Holy Family four straight time at Drubner.

Down 43-38 in the second half, freshman Jah'sheme Ringgold (Easton, Md.) brought the Eagles back in front. He hit a layup off a dish by classmate Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) and then forced a turnover on the other end and was fouled. Ringgold made both free-throws and, after a 10-second violation by Felician, nailed a jumper to put Post in front 46-43 with 10:53 remaining.
 
Marko Kozul hit from distance on two straight possessions for the Golden Falcons as they built up another five-point lead with 8:14 left. Freshman Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) made a three off a pass from senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) to cut the deficit to 54-52. After two free-throws by Felician, Desrosiers found Bogues from deep and pull Post within one with 5:21 remaining.
 
The Eagles were 6-of-7 from distance down the stretch and junior Brandt Voiles (Byron, Ill.) hit a three with 2:10 left to give Post the lead for good. Junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) put the Eagles in front by 66-62 with 47 seconds left with a three. Mareno had two of his season-high six blocked shots in the final minute to help preserve the victory.
 
Scouting the Tigers
Holy Family enters Saturday at 14-5 overall and 8-2 in the CACC, tied for first place in the South Divison with USciences. The Tigers have won four of the last five, with the lone loss coming to USciences. Reggie Charles leads the team at 17.7 points and 4.8 assists per contest. Holy Family averages 74.9 points per game and is third in the nation in three-point attempts at 29.5 per game. The Tigers are tough defensively, holding their opponents to just a 39.0 shooting percentage from the field, good for eighth in Division II.

Tough D From Distance
Post is third the CACC and 16th in the nation in opponents' three-point percentage. The Eagles allow their opponents to shoot at just a 30.9 percent clip. Post has held its rivals to under 25.0 percent shooting in six games this year. Their season-best performance came in the opener against Roberts Wesleyan as the Redhawks were just 7.7 percent (1-13) from distance.
 
Limiting Giveaways
Post is 31st nationally, averaging just 12.0 turnovers per game. The Eagles have had less or the same amount of turnovers than their opponents in all but three games this season. In five games this year, Post has committed 10 or less turnovers, with a season-low of seven coming in the opener against Roberts Wesleyan.

Freshman Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.) has been named CACC Rookie of the Week on four times this season and ECAC Rookie of the Week three times. Mareno leads the team at 13.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He has also posted four double-doubles this year.
 
Starting From Scratch
The Eagles return just one player from a year ago in sophomore Rokas Lapsys (Vilnius, Lithuania). Lapsys who appeared in just three games, averaging 9.3 minutes per outing. This year's roster features 13 players including six freshman, two sophomores, four juniors, and one senior. The players come from all over the globe with two from England in freshmen Kyle Squire (Cheshire, England) and Joseph Lockwood (London, England) and one from Australia, junior Shannon McCready (Melbourne, Australia) and Lithuania.
 
Preseason Poll
Post was picked to finish fifth in the CACC North Division this year. The Eagles received 41 votes. Bloomfield and Philadelphia were selected to finish first in the North and South Divisions, respectively.
 
On the Horizon
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at home against Dominican. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
