Tough First Half Hurts Eagles In Loss To Felician

Waterbury, Conn. - A rough shooting first half put the Post University women's basketball team in a tough hole as it lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game, 75-55 at Felician.

The win snapped a two-game winning streak for the Eagles who are now 5-13 overall and 5-4 in the CACC. Felician is now 4-13 overall and 3-7 in the CACC.

The Eagles found them selves down 11-2 with 12:47 to play in the first half before going on a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 13-9. However, the Eagles would go cold the rest of the way from the field, falling behind 32-15 at halftime. 

Post was 5-for-30 from the field in the first half. Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshmen Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) and Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) each had three points in the half to lead the Eagles.

The Eagles shot better in the second half, going 12-for 38 from the field, but the deficit grew to 33 points at 59-26 midway through the second half 

Post was able to go on a 29-12 run over the a 10 minute stretch to cut the deficit to 71-55 with 1:22 remaining.

Acklin led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points. Viselli scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Shyla Osmond scored 21 to lead the Golden Falcons. Ashley Morris had a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 19 rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC home game at the Drubner Center against Holy Family. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
