Eagles Suffer Loss To Lock Haven

Lock Haven, Pa. - Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 19 points to lead the Post University women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles dropped a 52-42 decision to the Lock Haven Lady Eagles in an out-of-conference game.

The loss was the sixth straight for the Eagles, who are 3-9 on the season. The 

Lock Haven led from end to end and were up 21-9 in the first half before Post was able to cut the deficit to 25-18 before halftime. The Eagles shot 41.2 percent from the field in the first half.

After the break, the Eagles went on a 9-4 run, capped by a layup from freshman Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) which cut Post's deficit to 30-27 with 11:57 remaining.

However, Lock Haven went on a 12-0 run over the next five-plus minutes to effectively put the game away.

Freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) finished with six points for Post.

The Eagles were an impressive 15-for-20 from the free-throw line.

Marrysa Moyer led three Lock Haven players in double digits with 12 points. She also grabbed 12 rebounds for the double-double.

Up next for Post is a home game against USciences on Jan. 3 at 1 p.m.
