Acklin Scores 23 In Loss

Eagles Drop Third Straight Game

Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 23 points, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped their third straight game, an 86-66 loss to defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion, Bloomfield.

The Eagles now stand at 3-6 overall and 3-1 in the CACC.

Post fell behind 17-6 with 13:20 remaining before going on a 13-4 run over the next six minutes, cutting the deficit to 21-19. During that stretch, Acklin scored 10 points, including four of those points from the free-throw line. Acklin went 15-for-16 from the charity stripe overall in the game. The 15 made free-throws were just two short of tying the CACC record of 17.

The Bears went on a 19-11 run at the end of the half to go into halftime leading, 40-30.

Acklin scored 17 of her points in the first half. Freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Mass.) had six points in the half. She finished with 12 points on the evening, all on three-pointers.

Iman Williams finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in the half for the Bears.

In the second half, the Eagles wouldn't get any closer than eight points, but stayed in striking distance throughout before the Bears pulled away in the final seven minutes.

Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris finished with 13 points. The 23 points for Acklin was a career-high and her second straight 20+ point performance. The Eagles hit 23 of their 27 free throws.

Morgan Taylor finished with a team-high 22 points for the Bears. Williams finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Tianna Smith finished with 16 points.

Post suffered another loss on the evening as senior guard Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) went down with an apparent leg injury. She did not return.
Up next for the Eagles is a non-conference road game at American International College at 1:30 p.m.
