WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's soccer team defeated Goldey-Beacom 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarterfinals on Monday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The Eagles advance to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2006.

"This was the most complete performance we have had all season. Goldey is a well coached and talented team that was playing as well as anyone in the conference at the end of the season. We knew we would have to play well to win. Hopefully, we can build off of it. There are no easy games in the playoffs," said CACC Coach of the Year Matt Micros.

Post controlled possession for most of the game, but could not break through with a goal in the first half. The Eagles outshot the Lightning 4-0 in the period.

CACC Player of the Year senior Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute off a through pass from freshman Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany). Dennis's 17 goals this year are the most in a single season since Post joined Division II.

After a corner kick in the 65th minute, freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) received the ball after a scramble in front of the net and booted it home to put the Eagles in front 2-0. Freshman Angela Ciaramella (Hamden, Conn.) found Rodriguez on a cross in the 72nd minute for the final goal.

The Eagles outshot the Lightning 13-3 on the day including 11-2 on goal. Junior Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) made two saves in goal to earn the victory.

Post will host sixth-seeded Georgian Court on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Municipal Stadium in the CACC Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. The Eagles and Lions played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
