Eagles Notch First Win

Two Players Finish With Double-Doubles

Bronxville, N.Y. - Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) led the Post University women's basketball team with 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Eagles won their first game of the season, 74-66 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tilt.

Post (1-2, 1-0 CACC) came back from a nine-point deficit with 9:32 left in the second half thanks to a 29-12 run to close out the game.

Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) also finished with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and senior Jacquelynne Pugh scored 18 points to go with three rebounds and four steals.

Concordia suffered its 30th straight loss.

It was a back and forth affair throughout the majority of the first half as both teams exchanged buckets for the majority of the half. The Eagles would go on a 9-4 run midway through the half to go up 27-22, thanks to four points from Childs-Harris in the stretch.

However, the Clippers would storm back going, finishing the half with an 11-3 run to go into the locker room with a 33-30 lead. Kayla Ortiz led the Clippers in the half with nine points in the half. Both Rebecca Gordon and Hadiyah Black were huge on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds apiece.

The second half started much the way the first half did with both teams trading buckets.

The Clippers would go on a 9-4 run to go up 54-45 with 9:32 remaining after a Selbe Lo layup.

The lead wouldn't last long as the Eagles tied the game up at 58 apiece after a three pointer from Pugh with 5:33 left. The Eagles would take the lead 44 seconds later on two free-throws by Childs-Harris and never relinquish it.

Pugh scored nine of the last 19 points for the Eagles, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the line in the last minute. Childs-Harris finished 12-for-14 from the line for the game.

Up next for the Eagles is an out of conference game at home against New York Institute of Technology on Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Drubner Center.
