Eagles Win ECAC Men’s Soccer Championship

Tomasevic Named Tournament MVP

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Post University men's soccer team defeated Salem International 2-0 on Sunday afternoon to capture the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Championship. Freshman Stefan Tomasevic (London, England) was named Tournament Most Valuable Player for the Eagles.

"We didn't play great in the first half, but made some adjustments at the break and were confident we'd be able to get a goal. I'm proud of the guys. It wasn't a season like last year, we had a lot of ups and downs, but it's great to end on a high note and bring some hardware back to Post," said head coach Ted Haley.

The Eagles struggled early as they were outshot 10-3 in the first half. Sophomore Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) made three saves in the period on his way to his second straight shutout.

Junior Mamadee Kamara (Monrovia, Liberia) gave Post the lead in the 58th minute. After the ball was knocked down in the box, Kamara gained possession and booted it to the top corner of the net for the score.

Salem International continued to get shots off, but Hanlon continued to make saves, finishing with five on the day. Junior Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) added a goal with about a minute remaining to seal the victory.

Post was outshot 18-10 on the afternoon, but held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.

The Eagles finish the season with a record of 10-8 overall, their fourth consecutive season with double-digit victories.
