Eagles Lose Second Straight

Pugh Leads Three Players In Double Figures

North Andover, Mass. - Senior Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville N.Y.) scored 14 points, but it wasn't enough as the Post University women's basketball team dropped its second straight game to open the season to defending Division II Bentley, 72-57.

The Eagles are now 0-2 on the season. Bentley improved to 2-0.

Pugh was one of three players who scored in double figures for the Eagles. Freshmen Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) scored 11 on 5 of 12 shooting, and Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) scored 12, while dishing out three assists.

Post jumped out to an early 5-3 lead after a three-pointer by Pugh. It would be the last lead the Eagles would hold as the Falcons went on a 30-8 run to conclude the half and led 35-13 at halftime.

Jen Gemma scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the Eagles were limited to 5-for-27 shooting in the half.

Bentley extended its lead to 33 points with 15:04 left in the second half before the Eagles rattled off a 32-11 run and got within 11 points with 4:18 remaining. The Falcons, however, closed out with a 10-6 run to end the game.

Viselli scored 11 points in the half, and the Eagles as a team shot 44.4% (16 of 36) and 5 of 12 from three-point land. Pugh and Childs-Harris scored nine points apiece in the half.

Trevena Bennett of Bentley led all scorers with 16 points. Gemma finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is a matchup at Concordia in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m.
