Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's soccer team's season came to an end as they it dropped a 4-0 match to Pace University in the Eastern College Athletic Conference opening round.Â
The Eagles wrap up their season at 12-6-1 overall and 9-2-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.Â
It was the second straight shutout loss for the Eagles, who were hampered by injuries towards the end of the season. Senior
Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) and sophomore
Brianne Scott (Williamstown, N.J.), both key contributors, missed the final two games.
Pace got on the board in the 26th minute, as Alyssa Zeoli scored her 16th goal of the season on a pass from Stephanie Savino.Â
Kara Alfonsi scored the next goal for the Setters in the 43rd minute, putting a rebound from a Zeoli shot past junior goalkeeper
Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.). Pace would score two minutes later as Gihane Quintana scored her first goal of the season on a shot from the left side.Â
Pace (11-9) went into halftime up 3-0.Â
The Setters would score their final goal as Zeoli put one past Carroll in the 51st minute.
Carroll finished the game with five saves, a season high.
The Setters used Aisha Chauhan, Lauren DeSousa and Alyssa Rollins combined for four saves.
