Men’s Basketball Defeated by Bentley at James Clancy Tournament, 61-53

Cummings Scores Season-High 18 Points In Loss

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Senior Jerry Cummings (Queens, N.Y.) scored a season-high 18 points, but the Post University men's basketball fell to Bentley, 61-53, in the James Clancy Memorial Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles drop to 2-10 on the season.
 
Senior Stephen Perry (Westhampton, N.J.) had another strong game with nine points, one assist, and a rebound. Senior Josh Tatum (Greenville, N.C.) led the way with five boards.
 
With the score tied 4-4 early, Post staged an 11-2 run to pull ahead 15-6 at the 12:17 mark of the first half. Cummings scored four points during the stretch.  The Eagle led throughout the first period extending their lead to as many as 10 with 5:46 remaining after a three-pointer by Cummings.
 
Post held a 32-25 advantage at the break. Cummings and Perry combined for 18 points in the first half.
 
The Eagles extended their lead back out to double-digits early in the second half as junior Mike Manning (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored four straight points to put Post ahead 40-28 with 15:05 left. A three-pointer by Cummings with 13:51 remaining gave the Eagles their largest lead of the game at 45-32.
 
Post maintained its double-digit lead for a while until a 17-4 run by the Falcons tied the game with just under seven minutes left. JP Coury took over for Bentley scoring nine points during the comeback. Bentley finished on a 25-4 run for the victory.
 
Despite the loss, the Eagles' bench outscored Bentley 34-10, led by Cummings' 18. Senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) had six points.
 
The Eagles return home for the first time since Nov. 30 on Wednesday, Jan. 8 as they host Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
