PREVIEW: Eagles Head To Felician For Mid-Week CACC Clash

Post Coming Off Two Straight Losses By Combined Seven Points

WATERBURY, Conn.  – Coming off a double-overtime defeat last week, the Post University men's basketball team looks to get back on track on Tuesday as it visits Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. The Eagles have lost their last two games by a combined seven points.
 
Last Time Out: Nyack 106, Post 101 (2OT) – Box Score | Recap
The Eagles dropped a 106-101 double-overtime contest to Nyack on Nov. 20. Post hit late three-pointers at the end of regulation and the first overtime to force the extra periods. The Eagles battled back from a 13-point second-half deficit with a 24-11 run midway through the period to send the game into the first overtime. With the score tied 66-66 with 6:47 remaining in the second half, junior Mike Manning (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored seven straight points to put Post in front by three, its largest lead of the game.
 
Nyack came back to take an 81-78 advantage with 0:39 remaining on two free throws by Isaiah Roberts. Senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) answered right back with a shot from distance to tie the game with 0:30 left. An offensive foul gave Post the ball back, but it was unable to get a shot off.
 
The Warriors led throughout the first overtime period and were ahead 89-86 with 1:11 left when senior Devin Willis (Seattle, Wash.) hit a three-pointer to tie the game. Will Robinson scored on a layup on the ensuing possession and was fouled. He made the free throw to put Nyack ahead by three again. Out of a timeout, Willis hit another from distance with 0:06 remaining to force the second overtime.
 
Nyack outscored Post 14-9 in the final overtime period for the victory.
 
Scouting the Golden Falcons
Felician enters Tuesday with a record of 2-4 overall and 1-1 in CACC play. Their biggest win came over No. 17 Saint Anselm in the Northeast-10 Challenge, 82-79. The Golden Falcons are the top three-point shooting team in the conference at 41.4 percent from deep. Four players average double-digit points per game, led by freshman guard Tim Massado at 14.5. Jeyvi Miavivululu leads the team and is ninth in the conference with 6.2 rebounds per game.
 
All-Time Series Against Felician
Post is 13-10 all-time against the Golden Falcons and has won six of the last seven meetings between the two teams. The Eagles lost the last matchup and are 5-6 at Job Gymnasium.

Eagles Among CACC Leaders
Derrick Strong is second in the conference in three-point percentage at 58.3. Travis Carbajal is third with a 66.7 shooting percentage from the field. AJ Harris leads the CACC and Strong is third with 4.0 and 2.5 steals per game, respectively. As a team, the Eagles lead the conference with 10.5 steals per game and are second with 9.0 three-pointers made per game. Post is also second in the conference with 84.8 points per contest.
 
Honored For Defensive Prowess
Junior AJ Harris (Inglewood, Calif.) was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11. In his Eagles debut against Southern New Hampshire on Nov. 9, Harris recorded seven steals, which was the highest single-game total since the 2006-07 season. He was the first Post player to earn a weekly award since Stephen Perry Jr. (Westhampton, N.J.) was named Player of the Week on Nov. 27, 2012.

Post returns home on Saturday for a non-conference matchup against LIU-Post at 2 p.m.
