Men's Basketball Falls 77-53 At Philadelphia, Drop Third Straight

PHILADELPHIA – The Post University men's basketball team dropped its third straight decision after a 77-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) defeat at Philadelphia University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Eagles fell to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in conference contests. Post was led by junior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) who netted 16 points.
 
Classmate Jerry Cummings (Queens, N.Y.) added 12 points and five rebounds. Senior Jake Wilcox (Kent, Wash.) added three assists and three steals. He scored five points.
 
Post scored the first three points of the game over a span of 1:11 on a free throw by Wilcox and a jumper by junior Devin Willis (Seattle, Wash.). After the Rams tied the game at 3-3 on a Nick Christian triple, freshman Gediminas Juozapavicius (Kedainiai, Lithuania) gave the Eagles a 5-3 advantage after a layup. However, a 9-0 run by Philadelphia (8-5, 4-1 CACC) over a span of 2:18 gave it the lead for good.
 
The Rams ballooned the lead to as many as 15 in the first stanza on a Christian jumper to cap a 10-0 run. With one second to play in the period, Wilcox hit a pair of foul shots to make the halftime score 41-29.
 
In the second half, the Eagles trailed by as many as 29, 77-46, with 1:23 to go in the game. Post scored the last five points of the night on a three-pointer by Willis and a put-back layup by freshman Robbie Dionisio (Shirley, N.Y.) to arrive at the final margin.
 
For the game, Philadelphia shot 52.1 percent from the field, while Post was limited to just 33.9 percent from the floor. The Eagles held an 18-10 advantage in second chance points and a 9-6 margin in bench scoring.
 
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 9, when it hosts Nyack in a CACC North Division contest. Post will go for the season sweep of the Warriors at 8 p.m. at the Drubner Center. The Eagles defeated Nyack 86-48 on Nov. 14.
