WATERBURY, Conn. – After struggling to find their shot for most of the first half, the Post University men's basketball team shot 51.4 percent from the field in the second in an 80-60 victory over Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have won seven straight contests and are off to their best start in program history at 7-1 overall and 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Jerry Cummings (Queens, N.Y.) recorded his second career double-double with 20 points and 10 boards. Juniors
Devin Willis (Seattle, Wash.) and
Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) each hit four from distance on their way to 18 points apiece. Senior
Jake Wilcox (Kent, Wash.) dished out 10 assists and grabbed five steals.
The Eagles looked like they were going to run the Wildcats out of the gym with an early 11-2 run, capped off by a powerful dunk by Cummings and forced a timeout by Wilmington at the 17:33 mark of the first. The Wildcats battled back to pull within one at 24-23 after two free throws by Isiah Mason.
Post made just three shots from the field over the final 8:43 of the period, but took a 33-28 advantage into the half.
Willis and Krischer combined to score 13 straight points for Post over 13-3 run to give the Eagles their first double-digit lead of the game at 50-39 with 12:38 remaining. Krischer made his fourth three-pointer of the contest at the 10:28 mark as Post led 59-43.
Junior Stephen Perry (Westhampton, N.J.) made four from distance over the final 6:30 of the contest as the Eagles cruised to victory.
After shooting just 36.4 percent in the first half, the Eagles made 18-of-35 from the field, 51.4 percent, in the second. Perry made five from behind the arc to lead Post, who as a team nailed 14 from distance, its second-highest total of the season.
The Eagles held an 18-2 advantage in points off turnovers and 17-4 in second-chance points. Herbert Dennis led the Wildcats with 13 points on the afternoon.
Post will be back in action on Tuesday night as it takes on Caldwell at the Drubner Center. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
