WATERBURY, Conn. – After a stunning defeat at the hands of Caldwell on Thursday night, the Eagles close out their two-game home stand against Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) opponent Goldey-Beacom on Satuday, Jan. 28. Tip-off at Drubner is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Eagles got off to a quick start as they went ahead 13-6 at the 15:11 mark of the first. Caldwell pushed ahead over the next eight minutes, and a layup by Emily Caswell at 7:58 gave the Cougars their largest lead of the period at 24-15, and they went into halftime ahead 35-32
An 11-6 run to start the second capped off by a Reynolds jumper helped the Eagles build a 47-41 lead at the 16:06 mark of the period. Caldwell responded with a 14-7 run of their own to take a 55-54 advantage with 8:53 left to play.
Two free throws pushed the Caldwell lead to three, but
Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) nailed a three-pointer with 27 seconds on the clock to tie it at 69-69. Out of a time out, Caldwell dribbled the clock down and Anderson shot a layup, missed, grabbed her own board and floated it in as time expired for the victory.
Monique Chance had another monster game with 20 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks, tallying her fourth double-double of the season.
Aubrey Latham chipped in 12 points and 12 boards in the defeat.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Eagles have defeated the Lightning just twice in the last six meetings between the two, but have not won in almost five years. The most recent victory came on Feb. 10, 2007 at Goldey-Beacom by the score of 80-73. Their last home triumph was on Jan. 5, 2006 in which the Eagles prevailed 86-81.

Senior forward
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been a force for the Eagles this season. She currently averages 10.7 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. Chance has four double-doubles on the season, most recently on Jan. 26 against Caldwell she scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. She received an honorable mention nod by the CACC for the week of Jan. 15-Jan 21 where she averaged 11.5 points and 13.5 rebounds over two games.
AMONG THE TOP OF DIVISION II:
Through the games on Jan. 26, the Eagles have two players ranked in the top-40 in three categories in NCAA Division II. Latham currently ranks 38
th in free throw percentage. She is shooting 60-for-71 from the line for a percentage of 84.5 percent. Chance ranks 24
th in rebounds per game and 29
th in blocked shots per game. She averages 10.2 rebounds per contest and has 173 total rebounds. She also has 38 blocks, good for a 2.2 blocks per game average.
SCOUTING THE LIGHTNING:
Goldey-Beacom comes into Saturday's contest sporting a two-game winning streak and is in fourth in the CACC South Division. They are coming off a thrilling 83-80 victory over Philadelphia, who currently stands in second in the south. Junior Irene Hudson leads the Lightning with 15.3 points per game. Devonne Richardson averages 12.9 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per contest. She has tallied nine double-doubles on the year. Goldey-Beacom leads the CACC in rebound margin, outrebounding their opponents by an average of 6.1 boards per game.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Eagles will hit the road to take on Dominican on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. This is the second matchup between the two this season with Post taking the 65-63 victory on Jan. 5.
