Basketball Hosts Doubleheader Against Concordia Tuesday Night
WATERBURY, Conn (February 8, 2010) Post University's Men's and Women's basketball teams will host Concordia College in a CACC conference double header Tuesday evening. The women tip-off at 6pm with the men to follow at 8pm.
Men's Basketball last time out:
Post University's Men's Basketball team lost in overtime at home against Nyack 91-88. This week the Eagles are prepared for three games against Concordia tonight, Goldey Beacom Thursday, and Holy Family on the road Saturday.
Last Meeting:
When the Eagles played the Clippers on January 19th, Post University took a 77-68 victory. Trevon Hamlet scored 20 points in the win, while Concordia had four players score in double figures in Argelix Gil, Brandon Whitaker, William Eason, and Kenneth Gaskins.
Scouting Concordia:
Gil leads the Clippers in scoring with 14.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Eason scores 12.9 points and gathers 11.8 rebounds per game.
Women's Basketball
These two teams met last at Concordia on January 19th with the Clippers earning a 68-42 victory. It was the first win in the program's inaugural season as a CACC competitor.
When the game is on the line…
Aubrey Latham is shooting 49-60 (81.66%) from the free throw line as a freshman. In seven of the nineteen games she has played in, she has shot 100 percent from the charity stripe. Over the past five games, Latham has not missed a free throw shooting a perfect 14-of-14. The last time she missed a free throw was on January 19th on the road against Concordia when Latham shot 3-of-4 from the line. In addition, Latham is second in free throw percentage against conference opponents shooting 31-of-35 (88.6%)
Scouting Concordia:
Last time out the Clippers lost to Nyack at home 56-37. Dana Rommel leads the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game. Shari Cordero is the team's leading rebounder with 8.2 per game.
Up Next:
On Thursday evening, the Eagles will host the postponed “Pink Zone” at the Drubner center. “Pink Zone” is a promotion organized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in order to raise awareness for breast cancer. Last year, 1600 teams participated in the event raising $1.3 million. The Women play first at 6pm and the Men will follow at 8pm. Both games are against Goldey Beacom.
