Box Score
WATERBURY, Conn.---Four players scored in double figures as Post University recorded an impressive 69-57 victory over LeMoyne College at the Drubner Center Wednesday afternoon.
Spencer Smith scored 15 points, had 4 assists and 5 rebounds to lead a balanced attack that demoralized the Dolphins (1-3) in the second half.
Cecil Stinson* led the Eagles (1-3) with 16 points, and Garvin McAlister was terrific once again, scoring 12 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists.
McAlister closed out the first half by calmly sticking a crowd-pleasing buzzer-beater from just beyond half court, drawing the Eagles to within one at 36-35.
Post University took over from there, going on an 11-0 run early in the second half to build a 52-42 lead.
The Eagles bench was once again a major factor, outscoring the LeMoyne reserves 23-5. Post University played excellent half-court defense, scoring 20 points on 17 Dolphins turnovers.
LeMoyne was led by junior forward Kevin Roth, who scored a game-high 20 points. Center Jim Janson had 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting for the Dolphins.
Point guard James Courier also had a solid effort, scoring 10 points and adding 6 assists as the Dolphins hung around until the final minutes.
LeMoyne made national news last season for defeating Division 1 powerhouse Syracuse in a preseason exhibition, but apparently the Carrier Dome is no match for the Drubner Center.
At least that's how it felt as a raucous crowd cheered on the Eagles on the day before Thanksgiving, despite the fact that students had gone on break a day earlier.
Post University returns to action on Sunday when they take on C.W. Post inside the Drubner Dome—er, Center, at 4 pm.
