Men's basketball falls to Bentley, 79-68

Box Score

Garvin McAlister
Brian Tracey scored 26 points and Bentley used a 16-0 second half run to defeat Post University, 79-68 Saturday at the Drubner Center.

The Eagles (0-3) led 61-60 with 10:47 left in the second half, but a barrage of buckets from Bentley guard Sam LeClerc helped inspire the Falcons' game-changing run.

LeClerc hit 3 three-pointers and had an old-fashioned three point play during the run, and by the time he was finally silenced, Bentley had built a 76-61 lead. LeClerc finished with 12 points.

The Falcons (2-2) dominated Post University on the boards, outrebounding the Eagles 37-23. Much of that work was done by Tracey, who came down with 10 rebounds.

The 6-5 junior was also able to get to the free throw line 12 times, connecting on 8 and helping the Falcons get into the bonus with over 11 minutes remaining in the second half.

The Falcons used great spacing and ball movement to get open shots, and knocked them down with consistency in the first half. Bentley shot 57 percent in the half, while the Eagles shot just 37 percent.

Guard Mike Quinn was also big for Bentley, finishing with 16 points and 5 assists. Quinn also came away with 5 rebounds.

Post University was led by Cecil Stinson*, who scored 14 points. Ronnie Sawyer had 13 points, all of which coming in the second half. Rishawn Johnson had 12 points and 4 rebounds for the Eagles.

The Eagles got solid play from senior Garvin McAlister, who had 9 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. But it wasn't enough to dispatch Bentley, which came into the season ranked 7th nationally and nearly defeated
Division 1 Providence College in a preseason exhibition game November 6. (The Falcons lost, 83-76.)

Post University returns to action on Wednesday, when they take on the LeMoyne Dolphins at 4 pm inside the Drubner Center.
