Forrest Irwin returns to the Eagles' bench in 2014. Irwin helped guide the staff to an astounding 2.70 ERA, which was ranked 9th nationally in 2011, smashing the mark previously held from the year before at 4.08. Senior RHP Steve Corbett was the anchor of the staff, finishing 6-2 with five complete shutouts. Those numbers landed him 1st Team All-CACC.

The 2011 staff also broke school records for strikeouts with 312, least walks yielded at 112, opponents batting average at .232 and least amount of earned runs with 113. They were 13th with least walks in 9 innings during the 2011 season. Both departing seniors Tom Sirois and Dan Steers etched their names into the record books under Irwin's tutelege including wins, strikeouts and innings pitched.

Coach Irwin comes to Post after a stint at SUNY-Purchase from 2008-2010 as the Assistant Baseball Coach responsible for pitchers and catchers. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Iona College from 2003-2005.

In the summer of 2003, Irwin was the Pitching Coach for the Danbury Westerners of the prestigious NECBL where his staff finished with an ERA of 3.26 and he also worked with five pitchers who were selected in the MLB Draft. He was also the Head Baseball Coach at Briarcliffe College which was once considered one of the top Division I junior colleges in the country. Irwin graduated from Dowling College with a B.A. in Business Administration and Management.
