Skjold - a 2010 graduate of Post – returned to the Eagles for the 2026 season and enters his seventh season at the helm this spring.

On March 4th, 2025 against Bentley University in a 14-12 win on the road, Skjold picked up his 100th career with as the Head Coach of Post University, becoming the third coach in program history to reach the triple-digit mark. The sixth-year head coach's team would finish the year 26-25, bowing out of the CACC Tournament's First Round in two games to North Division second seed Felician University, after finishing third in the North Division in the regular season. Skjold's team amassed four more CACC All-Conference recipients at the end of the year.

Since taking over the reins of the program, Skjold has taken the program to new heights both on and off the field. During the 2024 season, the Eagles won their third straight CACC North Division title and first-ever CACC Championship in program history after going a perfect 3-0 in the tournament to earn their first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Skjold's team netted a program-record eight players on the CACC All-Conference Team while placing three more on the NCBWA All-Region Second Team and two on the D2CCA All-Region Second Team.

In 2023, Post went 22-3 in the CACC Regular Season, leading to the CACC Regular Season Championship and set a program record for the most single-season wins with 36 on the year which was also the second-most in the East Region. The team's performance landed Skjold the CACC Coach of the Year award and saw a program-best six players named to the CACC All-Conference Team. Post would return to the CACC Championship as well, but fall short against Felician in the title game.

After shortened seasons in 2020 and 2021, the Eagles went from two wins to 25 wins, won the CACC North Division Regular Season Title, and made a trip to the CACC Championship in 2022 where they fell to Wilmington University. Five Eagles were named to the CACC All-Conference team that year - a program record while as a team they recorded a 3.21 GPA leading to the American Baseball Coaches Association Award for Team Academic Excellence.

Back in 2018-19, Skjold was the head coach of the Lake Erie College Storm. He made his mark in his lone season there as the team’s 29 wins were the second most in school history. The Storm also broke 25 school records with Skjold at the helm, including single season strikeouts and single season home runs.

Skjold was an assistant coach with Post for the 2016 season where he was involved in recruiting, managed scouting reports and developing hitters and catchers. He discussed what brought him back to the school.

Prior to Lake Erie, Skjold was an assistant coach at Division I Ball State for two seasons, where he learned under the tutelage of legendary coach, Rich Maloney. During his time with Ball State, the Cardinals had two 30-plus win seasons and led the Mid-American Conference in runs in 2017. Skjold also was responsible for managing all the video analysis software and providing scouting reports.

“Ray did an excellent job for us,” Maloney said.  “Ray is passionate about coaching baseball and developing young men.  He is a tireless worker.  In the two years we had Ray in our program he had the opportunity to wear several different hats and always was eager to learn to become the best he could be.  Ray did a great job at Lake Erie in his short stint-he was building something special there but getting the call to come back to his Alma mater was something he couldn’t pass up.  He is so excited to be back at Post.  Post is getting a guy who loves baseball, is a tireless worker, and will do everything he can to continue its baseball tradition and take it to new heights.”

Skjold also spent four seasons at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2011-2015. In 2015, the Knights upset top-seed Bryant in the Northeast Conference tournament. His three recruiting classes while with FDU helped lead the Knights from last place in the NEC to the NEC Championship game in 2016.

Prior to FDU, Skjold was an assistant at Division III Arcadia as a hitting and catching coach.

Skjold was a four-year player at Post, where he primarily caught, but contributed some innings pitching as well as playing first base. In his senior season in 2010, the Eagles were ranked as high as No. 3 in the East Region. Skjold graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration and a minor in sport management.
