Michael Day joined the Post University Football staff as the Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach in April 2026.

Day comes from nearby University of New Haven, where he was the Special Teams Coordinator anf Safeties Coach for the last year, helping the Chargers to seventh in punt return defense, 17th in field goal percentage, 22nd in kickoff touchbacks, and 25th in punt return average in the FCS during their first season of Division I competition, Within the Northeast Conference, Day's squad ranked first in punt return defense (3.45 yards per return), first in punt return average (9.9 yards per return), first in kickoff average (62.2), first in touchbacks (28), and second in kickoff return yards allowed. He also coached a pair of players to All-Conference honors. 

Before his promotion in March 2025, Day worked as the team's Assistant Special Teams Coordinator and Nickels Coach at New Haven, where the Chargers won the 2024 NE10 Championship, while he coached Jalen Fisher, an All-Conference First Teamer, who also was named Second Team All-Region, and All-New England.

Day's second stint in New Haven came after spending roughly a year between Central Connecticut State University as a Video Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach, as well as time with the University of Memphis as a Special Teams Coach. His first stint as a Charger was while he completed his master's degree, working as a Graduate Assistant with the Outside Linebackers.

The Connecticut native also spent time at Nassau Community College for three years and SUNY Maritime College after graduating from Sacred Heart University with a Sports Management degree in 2016.
