Post University Athletics

After two years as an assistant coach, Joseph Newman was named head sprint football coach in June of 2017. Newman is the fourth head coach in the eight-year history of the program.
 
Newman has mentored two All-Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) honorees in first teamer Anthony Lucia (Waterbury, Conn.) in 2015 and Shane Celone (Burlington, Conn.), an honorable mention in 2016.
 
A native of Greer, S.C., Newman was a four-year starter at center at Greer High School. He helped lead the team to two state playoff appearances and in 2005 was named to the Greenville News Honor Roll. Newman also anchored the offensive line to help set a single-game school record in rushing yards.
