Garvin McAlister

Assistant coach Garvin McAlister will be a first year assistant coach under Marc Kuntz in the 2018-2019 season. 

McAlister earned his bachelors degree from Post University in 2011. He would go on to earn his Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership from Nichols College (Dudley, MA). While a a student at Post, McAlister served as a key member of men’s basketball team as well as a sports information intern. 

McAlister has an extensive coaching background, starting at Western Connecticut State University in 2014 as an assistant women’s basketball coach where he recruited the eventual 2016 LEC Rookie of the Year. From WCSU, McAlister moved to Nichols College men’s basketball where he was also an assistant coach. While there, he helped the team to their first NCAA Tournament appearance (2017). McAlister’s next stop would be Connecticut College in 2017 as an assistant men’s basketball coach. 

McAlister had a successful career as a Post University basketball player. He ranks 2nd all-time in career assists, 3rd all-time in career steals, 4th all-time in game starter and 9th all-time in 3-point field goals made.
