MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – With a brand new team in tow for the 2025-26 season, Post University Women's Tennis took the court for its first match of the season on Wednesday afternoon at home, facing off against Assumption University, but would drop its third consecutive matchup against the Greyhounds, 7-0, with four newcomers to the program seeing action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior transfer
Ana Vasilis and freshman
Vitalina Sokoliuk played in the #1 Doubles together, falling 6-4 against junior Marie Knispel and freshman Darja Trinerova, which would be the same finish in the #2 Doubles. In that matchup, sophomore
Julie Merlin and sophomore transfer
Laura Kotala fell against sophomores Laurence Bosmans and Madison Ericson. Finishing off the Doubles sweep in the #3 Doubles were juniors Carolina and Danielle de Souza, dispatching of freshman
Savannah Croft and senior

The Greyhounds would go on to sweep through all six of the Singles matches as well, with Bosmans defeating Merlin in the #3 Singles along with Danielle de Souza over Turco in the #6 Singles by identical 6-1 scores in two straight sets. A similar outcome would present itself in the #1 Singles and #5 Singles with 6-1 and 6-2 being the two-set finals in the matches between Knispel and Vasilis, as well as freshman Estefania De Oliveira Viloria and Crotf, respectively.
Rounding out the afternoon for Assumption would be Trinerova over Sokoliuk, 6-0 and 6-1, in the #2 Singles, while sophomore Marian Aquirre defeated Kotala, 6-0 and 6-2, in the #4 Singles, which led to the 7-0 sweep to give the Greyhounds their first win of the season.

Post University gets ready for a weekend full of games as they take on Chestnut Hill College in a conference matchup at home on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club, followed by a 10:00 AM match against Saint Michael's College on Sunday. The Eagles have lost four consecutive matches against the Griffins, while they will play the Purple Knights for the first time in program history.
