Nicole Parks Records Career-High 14 Points, Women's Basketball Drops Fourth Straight Against Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Junior forward Nicole Parks scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting and tied her career-high in rebounds with eight for Post University Women's Basketball against Molloy University in its final non-conference matchup of the season, but it would not be enough to overcome the Lions as Post's losing skid extended to four straight games with a 63-53 loss on Thursday evening.

THE BASICS

Post University 53, Molloy University 63

Post University (4-17)

Molloy University (10-11)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The defense for the Eagles would show up in full force during the first two quarters of the affair, forcing the Lions to commit 20 turnovers, but it would only lead to eight points for Post on the other end which was just as many as Molloy manufactured off the 13 turnovers they forced. Despite the disparity in holding onto the ball, there would be a disparity in shooting that tilted heavily against the Eagles through the opening 20 minutes.

Doubling up the Lions in shots, Post finished the first half shooting only 10-for-42 (23.8%) and missing all 10 of their threes while a 12-for-26 (46.2%) half by Molloy in which they connected on 2-of-7 threes and made all seven of their free throws, paced them to a nine-point halftime lead.

Senior guard Naj White led all players in points with eight in 16 first-half minutes along with five rebounds while Parks tacked on six of her own on 3-of-5 shooting for the Eagles. Junior guards Rosa Rizzitelli and Casey Campo each led the way for the Lions, putting in seven points each while being followed closely by six points from senior forward Samantha Muller.

The only lead of the first half for Post would come in the first four minutes when they jumped out to a 6-2 lead before a 7-0 run led by Campo and Muller gave Molloy the lead back for what would end up being the rest of the half. After leading by eight points, 18-10, after one, freshman guard Jasmine Day-Cox kicked off an 8-0 run for the Eagles in the second to tie things up with 6:27 left before the Lions' offense outscored them 15-6 the rest of the way to head into halftime up by nine points, 33-24.

The deficit would never get lower than four points which is where it stood with 9:28 to go in regulation following a jumper from sophomore forward Alyssa Rossignol, as the Eagles had a season-worse shooting performance from the field in which they shot just 25.7% after making 18-of-70 shots and only 1-of-16 (6.3%) threes. Post was able to keep the game within reach most of the night because of the continued defense which forced 36 turnovers by night's end and their ability to get to the line where they made 16-of-26 (61.5%) of their attempts.

While White led the charge with 18 points on 6-of-19 shooting and made all six of her free throws followed by Parks with her 14 points, no other Post players would reach double figures as Day-Cox and Rossignol were next up with six points each. White and Parks were also the only two Eagles to make more than two shots from the field while Parks was the only player to shoot above 40% from the floor with her 50% evening (6-for-12).

Only two would reach double-digit point totals for the Lions as well with junior guard Sophia Yearwood leading the way with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three made threes and six rebounds followed by Campo with 12 points on 5-of-7 from the field. But also stuffing the sheet was senior guard Janel Moore with her 11 assists despite only contributing six points in the game. As a whole, Molloy shot 40.3% from the floor, going 25-for-62 in the 63-53 win while only make one three per quarter to the tune of a 4-for-18 evening and 9-for-11 performance at the line.
