Alyssa Fortin Joins on as Assistant Cheerleading Coach Under Coach Knox

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Head Coach Alicia Knox has her new assistant coach in current Post employee and alumni Alyssa Fortin, who joined on with the team towards the end of the fall semester.

When asked about the addition of Fortin, Knox said, "Alyssa has been a great impact to the team with her background and knowledge in Cheer and has mutual long term plans to aid in the Growth of Post Cheer in the years to come."

No stranger to Post, Fortin arrived at the Waterbury campus after spending four years at Western Connecticut State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resource Management in 2019. A year later, she graduated from Post University with her Master of Business Administration, focusing on Organizational Leadership and Development in August 2020.

During her time in Danbury, Fortin spent just under three years as a student worker in the nursing department. In that role, she also worked as a Human Resources Generalist Intern for the entire 2018-19 academic year. Since joining Post University as an Admissions Department Student Ambassador in September 2019, Fortin swiftly ascended through the ranks at Post University, progressing from an Admissions Department Student Ambassador in September 2019 to an Associate Experience Administrator by March 2021. Within nine months, she advanced to the role of Associate Experience Coordinator in November and, just five months later, achieved further elevation to Generalist in March 2022.

In her current role as an Associate Experience Generalist, Fortin contributes significantly to culture transformation initiatives, manages the development of a wellness program, serves on the DEI Advocacy Council, and acts as an Emerging Leaders Mentor. She also oversees the anonymous ethics reporting system and more. The Waterbury resident played a pivotal role in creating the first Employee Handbook at Post. In May 2022, Fortin took on another role as an Associate Faculty member in the Marketing department, teaching an online marketing course. The course examines the basic principles, theories, and practices of marketing and their impact on product, price, place, and promotional decisions within the global market.

Fortin has no shortage of cheerleading experience, having dedicated a decade to the sport, including all four years of her high school career as a part of the Co-ed Sacred Heart High School Cheer Team. In this role, she served as a flyer and base, contributing to her team's first-place victories at the Naugatuck Valley League Cheerleading Championships for four consecutive years.
