HOW IT HAPPENED
As a team, the Falcons shot an impressive 34-for-67 from the field (50.7%) with eight threes on 20 attempts which was good for a 40% shooting afternoon from long range. In the first quarter alone, Bentley was 11-for-20 from the floor with four threes compared to Post who struggled at 4-for-15 (26.6%) with no threes. Senior forward Kylie DuCharme led the game off with a jumper to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead which was met by sophomore forward Alyssa Rossingol's jumper to tie the score at two with 9:23 left in the first.
That would be the only time besides the start of the game in which the score would be tied as a three from graduate guard Brooke Obar, which was matched with another Rossignol make, made it a one-point game in favor of the Falcons, 5-4. From there, Bentley embarked on a 10-0 run to make it an 11-point game, 15-4, with 5:53 to go in the frame before junior forward
Nicole Parks broke up the run with a bucket. Down 12 points with 3:51 remaining in the first, sophomore guard Niya Morgan started a 9-0 run with her three to bring the lead up to 21 points, 29-8, heading into the second.
Eventually losing by 38 points, the Eagles were outscored by just six points in the second quarter and trailed 48-21 heading into the break before being outscored by 11 points throughout the entire second half in the 84-46 defeat. Beyond White's team-leading 12 points, Rossignol only had eight points to finish the game after scoring the team's first two baskets followed by freshmen guards
Jackie Russell and
Kamryn Porter with six points apiece, accounting for Post's top four scorers.
Senior guard Amanda Kabantu led Bentley in double figures with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and was one of three scorers with 10-plus points along with DuCharme at 12 points and Obar at 11 points while both shot 4-for-9 from the field. All 15 players saw the floor for the Falcons in the victory with 14 recording at least a shot or an assist and 12 recording points.
