Box Score Waterbury, CT - The Post University women's basketball team put on a defensive clinic, defeating Alliance University, 63-31 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday evening.
The 31 points allowed was the lowest the program has ever allowed in a game. It broke the previous record of 32, which the Eagles have done twice, including in a win over Caldwell last season.
Post forced a season-high 29 turnovers and held Alliance to 25.6 percent shooting (11-for-43).
With the win, the Eagles move to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the CACC. Alliance is now 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the CACC.
The Eagles were led by
Tyree Allen, who scored 15 points, had four rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Tijanae Simmons scored 12, going 4-for-11 from three, and
Roxkel Washington had a team-high ten rebounds to go with six points.
Alliance scored the first point of the game, and it was the only time they led, as the Eagles allowed just two field goals the rest of the way, taking a 21-5 lead after the first ten minutes. Post hit five threes in the quarter, including two from
Tyara McQueen.
Post did not allow a point in the second quarter until the 1:45 mark of the second quarter, as the Eagles led by as much as 34 at 39-5 before going into the half leading 39-10. The Eagles forced eight turnovers in the quarter and Simmons hit two of her threes in the quarter.
The Eagles were not threatened the rest of the way, allowing only seven points in the third.
Post had a season-high in threes with 11, assists with 17 and steals with 12.
The Eagles scored 32 points off turnovers and had 19 second-chance points after grabbing 21 offensive rebounds.
Post has won the last eight games against Alliance.
Raquel Crooke-Losada led Alliance with nine points.
