Waterbury, Conn. – Freshman Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) led four Eagles in double figures with 15 points, but the Post University women's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday evening at the Drubner Center.
Freshman Meaghan Gotham (Revere, Mass.) had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Lauren Chambers (Lebanon, Pa.) had 13 points and a career high eight assists and classmate Gabriela Middleton (Coral Springs, Fla.) had 12 points to round out the double figure scorers.
The Eagles caught fire early in the first quarter after falling behind 6-2 in the first 90 seconds. A Middleton three-pointer sparked a 12-0 run capped by a layup from Gotham to give the Eagles their biggest lead of the game at 14-6. The Griffins closed with a 10-2 run of their own as the teams were tied at 16-16 at the end of the first.
After Chestnut Hill (10-6, 6-1 CACC) took an eight point lead and upped it to 13 (61-48) in the third, the Eagles again went on a run, this time of the 10-2 variety to cut their deficit to 63-58.
Again the Eagles (2-11, 1-6 CACC) were dominant on the offensive boards, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring ten second change points. The Eagles rank fourth in Division II in offensive rebounds at 19 per game. The Eagles also capitalized on Chestnut Hill's turnovers, scoring 22 points off of turnovers to just 15 for the Griffins.
