Kingwood Scores 18 In Loss To USciences

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Jovan Kingwood (Norwalk, Conn.) scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as the Post University women's basketball team dropped a 73-42 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game against University of the Sciences.

The Eagles (2-22, 2-13 CACC)  jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a three-pointer by junior Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) to begin the game. The Devils would take a 4-3 lead before Kingwood answered with a layup to give the Eagles back to Post at 5-4. However, USciences would close out with a 9-3 run to end the quarter and lead 13-8.

After USciences (9-15, 9-6 CACC)  opened up the second quarter with a layup, Ayala hit another three-pointer to make it a 15-11 game. After a layup and a three-pointer by Alex Thomas of USciences, Kingwood would answer with a jumper and three-pointer of her own, keeping the deficit at four points at 20-16. But the Devils would finish the half with a an 18-7 run and take a 38-23 lead going into halftime.

USciences broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Post 21-4 before closing out the game in the fourth quarter.

Ayala and classmate Nicole Sheloski (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) each finished with six points for the Eagles. The Eagles were 5-for-16 from three-point range.

Up next for the Eagles is a road game at Nyack on Feb. 17. Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
