Preview: Eagles To Play Final Regular Season Game

Pugh To Be Honored For Senior Day

Waterbury, Conn.  - Having already clinched a berth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament, the Post University women's basketball team will take on Georgian Court in their final game of the season at the Drubner Center on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Eagles are currently 6-21 overall and 6-12 in the CACC. They have clinched fourth place in the North Division.

Post is coming off of an 81-48 loss to CACC North leading Bloomfield on February 17. Freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) and sophomore Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) led the way with eight points apiece for the Eagles. Junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) had seven points and nine rebounds. 
 

Senior Day

It will be a special senior day for the Eagles as Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) will play her final game for Post. She will be honored before the game.

Top Ten List

Several Eagles have made their way into the top ten in some key statistical categories. Nicole Viselli  is eighth in three-pointers made with 49. Deaisia Acklin is fifth in the CACC in both points scored (372) and free-throws made (97). She is seventh in the conference with 134 field goals made. On the defensive end she is sixth in steals with 55. Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris is third in free-throws made with 101. She is also eighth in defensive rebounds with 132 and ninth in steals with 47.

Pride Of Lions

Georgian Court sits at 2-22 overall and 2-15 in the CACC. They are in last place in the CACC South. The Lions are led by Tahira Matthews who averages 17.7 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. Matthews is fourth in points per game and second in rebounds per game.

As a team, the Lions have lost six straight games, including a 77-60 loss to Chestnut Hill on Feb. 17. The Lions have not won since Jan. 31 when they defeated Nyack, 69-66 at home.

The Eagles hold the overall series lead against the Lions, 11-7. The Lions have won the last three games, including a 79-67 win on their home floor last season. Here is a look at the most recent results between the two teams.
