Preview: Eagles Take On North-Leading Bloomfield

Win And Some Help Will Clinch CACC Tournament Bid

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team looks to clinch a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament bid as it takes on CACC North-leading Bloomfield on the road at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Eagles are currently sitting at 6-20 overall and 6-11 in the CACC, putting them in fourth place in the North Division. A win and a loss by both Felician and Concordia would clinch a CACC tournament bid.

Post is coming off a big 73-68 win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Junior Deaisia Acklin led three players in double figures with a career-high 29 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds, had five assists and five steals. Freshman Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Dericka Sims (Chesapeake, Va.) scored 11 points while grabbing nine rebounds. The win broke an eight-game losing streak and put the Eagles one win away from a CACC tournament bid.

Top Ten List

Acklin is fourth in total points scored in the CACC with 365. Defensively, she is moving her way up the steals chart with 55, putting her fifth in the conference. Her teammate, Childs-Harris has 46 steals on the season, putting her eighth in the conference.

From long range, freshman Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) has been dialed in from deep as of late. She has 47 three-pointers on the season, putting her at eighth in the CACC. She has made two or more three-pointers in 11 of her last 12 games, including tying a school record with seven in a loss against Dominican on Jan. 28.

Bearing Down

Bloomfield is closing in on a North Division title this season as they are 14-8 overall and 12-3 in the CACC. They have a half game lead over Caldwell for the top spot in the North. The Bears sport a balanced scoring attack with five players averaging double figures in scoring, with Tianna Smith leading the way at 14.2 points per game. Ariel Wilson is second on the team at 12.6 points per game.

Head-To-Head

Both teams met on December 17, as the Bears won, 86-66 at the Drubner Center. Morgan Taylor scored 22 points to lead Bloomfield. Iman Williams had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. For the Eagles, Acklin scored 23 points and hit 15 of her 16 free-throws. Viselli hit four threes for 12 points.
