Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team will try and increase its winning streak to three games as it takes on Saint Michael's College of the Northeast-10 Conference in Colchester, VT at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Post is currently tied for first in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division, with a 3-3 overall record and a 3-0 record in the conference.
The Eagles are coming off of an 82-79 win over Wilmington in which freshman Lexus Childs-Harris (New London, Conn.) and junior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) both finished with double-doubles. Childs-Harris had 19 points and 12 rebounds. Acklin scored 12 while pulling down 10 rebounds.Â
Post jumped out to a lead early on in the contest by shooting 64.3 percent in the first half. Childs-Harris and senior Jacquelynne Pugh shot a combined 8-for-8 from the floor in the first half. Pugh finished with 18 points overall. Defensively, Junior Kristine Ripson (Youngstown, N.Y.) blocked nine shots.
Moving Up The Charts
Pugh and Childs-Harris are currently in the top-10 in scoring in the CACC. Pugh is seventh at 14.8 points per game. Childs-Harris is ninth at 14.2 points per game. Pugh is second in three-point percentage at 55 percent (11-for-20).
The Eagles are second in scoring on in the conference at 73.2 points per game, behind only Caldwell (75.6 ppg).
Post leads the CACC in steals at 12.5 steals per game.
Scouting Saint Michael's
Saint Michael's is out of the NE-10 Conference where it sits in fifth place in the Northeast Division with a 5-3 overall record and a 2-3 in conference record. The Purple Knights are led by Makenzie Burud, who averages 15.2 points per game. Senior Maggie Sabine averages 12.8 points per game.
The Purple Knights are coming off of a big win over defending champion, Bentley, 69-57 on December 6. Burud and Sabine each scored 17 for the Purple Knights.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
