Preview: First Place On The Line As Post Takes On Bloomfield

Wright-James Honored

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team will take on Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division Matchup on Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. in Bloomfield, N.J. with first-place on the line.

Both teams currently sit at 4-0 in CACC play, with Bloomfield holding a 6-3 record overall with Post sitting at 4-6.

In the last game for the Eagles on Dec. 13, they dropped a 91-82 decision to Southern Connecticut State University in an out of conference matchup at the Drubner Center. Post did lead the game at halftime, but were unable to put the Owls away in the second half. Senior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) led the Eagles with 25 points on 7-for-13 shooting. Sophomore Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) both had double-doubles for the Eagles with 13 points and 11 rebounds and 14 points and 10 rebounds, respectively. As a team, the Eagles grabbed 18 offensive rebounds and went 23-for-29 from the free-throw line.

GETTING OFFENSIVE
The Eagles lead the CACC in points per game at 82.1. Their closest competitor is Philadelphia who averages 72.9 points per game.

STILL CLIMBING
Latham is still climbing her way up the all-time school scoring mark held by 2002 graduate Tracey Garofolo. Currently, Latham has 1,435 points in her phenomenal career, second all-time behind Garofolo's 1,510.

Latham is currently the CACC leader in points per game (24.1 ppg) and field goal percentage (56.7). She is fifth in Division II in points per game.

WRIGHT-JAMES HONORED
Wright-James was named to the CACC Honor Roll for her standout performance against SCSU after scoring 25 points, and grabbing six rebounds.

HISTORY 101
After losing 18 of its first 19 games against the Deacons in their head-to-head history, the Eagles have come back strong, winning the last three games, including two wins last season: a 80-68 win on Jan. 3, 2013 and a 66-57 win on Feb. 12, 2013. Both wins were at the Drubner Center. Latham was stellar in both those games, scoring 29 points in the first game, and 23 in the second game.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE DEACONS
The Deacons calling card is their stellar defense, as they are giving up just 57.8 points per game and holding opponents to 36.1 percent shooting; both a CACC best. They are fourth in the conference in forcing turnovers at 20.3 turnovers per game.

Senior Ivettis Castro leads the Deacons in scoring at 13.3 points per game. Ariel Wilson is fifth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, shotting 39.3 percent from long range.
