Comeback Bid Falls Just Short For Women's Basketball At SNHU

Latham Leads All With 29 Points

Box Score
MANCHESTER, N.H. - A comeback bid from senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) and the Post University women's basketball team fell just short as it dropped a 77-71 out of conference matchup to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday.
Latham led the Eagles with 29 points, adding to her career point total and closing in on second place all time. She currently has 1,296 points and is just 25 points behind Tadj Williams (Class of 2006) for second place.
The game started out slowly for the Eagles, falling behind by as much as 13 in the first half, but managed to knock the deficit down to three. Southern New Hampshire was able to get a little bit of its lead back, thanks to a three-pointer by Brooke Springfield with seven seconds left in the first half to give the Penmen a 48-38 lead at the break.
The Eagles were able to make a 17-11 run to open up the second half, closing the deficit to four points. In that stretch, Latham scored 12 of her 29 points.
After it looked like Southern New Hampshire would pull away after extending the lead to eight, the Eagles reeled them back in, knocking the deficit down to four after a layup by freshman Liz Falcigno (Middletown, Conn.) with 1:07 left in the game. Falcigno finished with 11 points on the day.
The rest of the comeback would fall short as the Penmen would hang on the rest of the way.
Sophomore Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Junior Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) just missed out on a double-double, finishing with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
Post (1-3) outscored Southern New Hampshire (2-1) in the paint, 40-36.
Up next for the Eagles is their home opener at the Drubner Center against Nyack at 6 p.m. in a CACC matchup.
