Box Score

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Sophomore Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) had a double-double and senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) scored 17 points, but it wasn't enough as the Post University women's basketball team lost to Bridgeport, 86-76 at the 2013 Bridgeport Women's Basketball Classic. The Eagles fall to 0-2 on the young season.

The teams matched up well early with no one pulling ahead by  more than five points for the first 11:10 minutes of the game. Bridgeport would then pull ahead by 13 with 6:42 left at 32-19.

The Eagles were able to storm back before the end of the half, finishing on a 24-14 run, to knock the deficit down to three, 46-43 at the half. Latham scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half, connecting on all six of her free throws. Griffin hit 3-of-4 three-pointers in the first half to keep the Eagles close. Senior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) chipped in with nine of her 14 points in the first half.

The first five minutes of the second half mirrored the beginning of the first half as the Purple Knights and Eagles played an even match. However, the Purple Knights would extend their lead throughout the latter stages of the half, getting ahead by as much as 17 points before hanging on for the win.

Junior Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) was the fourth player in double figures for the Eagles, chipping in with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Griffin finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Aziza Patterson led the Purple Knights with 17 points.
