Eagles Extend CACC Winning Streak To Nine Games With Victory Over Chestnut Hill, 69-61

Post Led From Start To Finish For Fourth Consecutive Win, Ties Longest Streak Since 2003-04

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Despite a season-high 26 turnovers, the Post University women's basketball won its ninth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game and fourth consecutive overall with a 69-61 victory at Chestnut Hill on Saturday afternoon. Junior Fernanda Mansilla (Ancud, Chile) recorded 11 assists, the highest total since the 2005-06 season
 
The Eagles boasted three players in double figures, led by junior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) with 19 points off the bench. Latham shot 8-for-11 from the free throw line and grabbed seven boards. Senior Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) added 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Junior Jessica Webber (Naugatuck, Conn.) shot 3-of-6 from behind the arc and scored 12 points to go along with three steals.
 
Post led right from the tip-off and didn't look back as it opened up a 16-4 lead early on at the 13:39 mark of the first. Brooks scored five points out of the gate. Mansilla hit a three-pointer minutes later to give the Eagles their largest lead of the half at 24-11 with 10:11 left in the first.
 
Chestnut Hill battled back with an 18-9 run to pull within four at 33-29 with 1:47 remaining. Five quick points from Post pushed the advantage back up to 38-29 as it took a 38-31 lead into the intermission.
 
Webber hit two from distance early in the second half as the Eagles built their lead back up to double-digits at 46-36 at the 15:15 mark. The Griffins wouldn't go away as a layup by Lila Jones brought them within six at 50-44 with 11:37 remaining.
 
Chestnut Hill closed the gap to 62-59 late after a Lindsey Alexander layup with 2:03 left. Post closed out the game on 7-2 run as Latham, Mansilla, and Brooks hit clutch free-throws down the stretch to give the Eagles the victory.
 
Post held a 45-34 advantage on the glass and outscored the Griffins 13-7 in second-chance points. Alexander led all scorers with 20 points for Chestnut Hill.
 
The four-game win streak ties the second-longest in the Eagles' Division II history. Post won four straight to close out the 2011-12 season and also in 2005-06. The Eagles won five consecutive games from Feb. 12- Feb. 21, 2004.
 
Post will be back at Drubner on Saturday, Dec. 15 to take on Southern New Hampshire. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
