WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team lost its third straight game as it fell to the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) 89-69 on Sunday afternoon. With the defeat, the Eagles close out the 2012 portion of their schedule with a record of 6-6.

Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds, both team highs. Sophomore
Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) added 15 points and three steals off the bench. Freshman
Toshina Jessamy (Hartford, Conn.) scored 10 points and pulled down six boards.
The Eagles fell behind early as NYIT hit three shots from distance over the first 3:33 to take a 17-7 advantage. Chance kept Post in the game as she scored 10 of the Eagles first 13 points, including a layup at 10:22 to pull the score to 21-13, the closest it would get in first half.
The Bears staged a 12-5 run late in the first half to take their largest lead of the period at 42-26 with 2:06 remaining. Layups by Pugh and junior
Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) brought the score to 45-33 at the intermission.
A three-pointer by Jessamy capped off an 11-2 run by the Eagles midway through the second half and cut the deficit to 66-53 with 9:51 remaining. NYIT responded with a 9-0 run of its own to take its largest lead of the afternoon at 75-53 at the 7:26 mark.
The Eagles held a 46-38 advantage on the glass, but NYIT dominated in the paint, outscoring Post 54-34 inside. The Bears were led by Nikki Jo Rotolo with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.
Post gets back into Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Thursday, Jan. 3 as it hosts Bloomfield. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
