PREVIEW: Post Looks To End Road Trip On High Note In Concordia

Eagles Have Won Last Three Against The Clippers

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Post University women's basketball team will conclude its four-game road trip on Tuesday, Jan. 24 as they travel to face Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) opponent Concordia. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.

The Tigers opened the game on a 9-0 run before extending the lead to as many as 31. The Eagles cut the deficit to 62-39 in the second half, but couldn't manage to get any closer. Junior guard Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) led the Eagles with 13 points and dished out four assists.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
The Eagles and Clippers have faced off eight times since the 1997-98 season with Post winning six of the contests. Post is currently riding a three-game winning streak against Concordia. Last season the Eagles were victorious in Bronxville 62-53 on Dec. 7, 2010, as Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) scored 15 points and grabbed 14 boards. Post also won at Drubner, 72-59, on Jan. 19, 2011. Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) led the offense with 18 points.
 
TAKE A CHANCE:
Senior forward Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been a force for the Eagles this season. She currently averages 10.7 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. Chance has three double-doubles on the season, most recently on Jan. 18 at Felician she scored 16 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. She received an honorable mention nod by the CACC for the week of Jan. 15-Jan 21 where she averaged 11.5 points and 13.5 rebounds over two games.
 
AMONG THE TOP OF DIVISION II:
Through the games on Jan. 22, the Eagles have two players ranked in the top-40 in three categories in NCAA Division II. Latham currently ranks 11th in free throw percentage. She is shooting 51-for-57 from the line for a percentage of 89.5 percent. Chance ranks 35th in rebounds per game and 40th in blocked shots per game. She averages 9.8 rebounds per contest and has 147 total rebounds. She also has 31 blocks, good for a 2.1 blocks per game average.
 
SCOUTING THE CLIPPERS:
Concordia has dropped their last two games, at Bloomfield 71-51 on Jan. 12 and at home against Dominican 68-59 on Jan. 18. Krystina Agard leads the offense with 17.3 points per game, good for fifth in the conference. Forward Chanessa Blakemore leads the CACC and is third in Division II with 12.7 rebounds per game. Blakemore was one block away from a triple-double against Dominican, finishing with 15 points, 17 rebounds, and nine blocks. The Clippers rank eighth in Division II with 5.6 blocks per game.
 
ON THE HORIZON:
On Thursday, Jan. 26, the Post University Athletics Department will partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to present a CACC basketball doubleheader between the host Eagles and the Caldwell Cougars. The women's game will tip at 6 p.m. at the Drubner Center, while the men's game will follow. All fans are encouraged to wear black. Coaches and student-athletes will wear blue shoelaces to commemorate the event.
