RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Despite a double-double by senior
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.), the Post University women's basketball team dropped its third straight game on Wednesday night with a 73-52 defeat at Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game. Chance finished with 16 points and tied her career-high with 21 rebounds at Job Gym.
Chance led the Eagles with 10 points and 16 rebounds in the second half, on her way to her first double-double since Nov. 23. Senior
Kelli Reynolds (Milford, Conn.) and sophomore
Colleen Hanscom (Melrose, Mass.) finished with 13 points and 10 points respectively. Hanscom shot 4-for-6 from the floor and 2-for-2 from distance.
The Eagles fell behind 5-0 at the 18:33 mark of the first as Felician (8-7, 5-3 CACC) sunk its first two shots. The teams traded baskets over the next four minutes, and a Chance layup at 14:39 cut the deficit to 11-9.
The Golden Falcons used a 13-4 run to build their lead to 24-13 with 10:05 remaining in the period. The CACC's leading scorer, Destiny Barnette, scored five points, as Felician shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc during the stretch.
Reynolds answered for Post (3-11, 1-6 CACC), and scored five points in under a minute, capped by a three-pointer with 9:11 to play in the opening stanza. The Eagles trailed 24-18. Felician pulled away again and led by as many as 14 points. The Golden Falcons held a 35-25 advantage at halftime.
Hanscom hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 41-32 with 15:51 remaining. This is the closest the Eagles would get as Felician took home the victory.
The Eagles shot 12-for-17 from the free throw line on the night. Post held a 46-43 advantage on the glass.
Post continues its road trip on Saturday, January 21, against Holy Family. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
