Eagles Women’s Basketball Falls To Molloy

WATERBURY, Conn. (November 29, 2011) The Post University women's basketball team was defeated by Molloy on Tuesday night. The loss is the Eagles third straight, as they now stand at 2-4 heading into conference play.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 6-0 lead one minute into the game. Post extended the lead to nine at 25-16 on a three-pointer by Casey Brooks at 7:53.  Brooks finished 3-for-4 from beyond the arc on the night. The Eagles held a 33-26 lead with 5:21 left in the half, but Molloy outscored Post 15-3 to take a 41-36 lead into the break. Monique Chance had 11 points in the first half.

The Lions came out of the locker room and scored the first six points of the second half to push their lead to double-digits at 47-36. The Eagles cut the lead back down to nine at 51-42 with 16:40 to go in the game, but were unable to get any closer as Molloy took the 82-71 victory.

Chance played well for the Eagles as she finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Jacquelynne Pugh added 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting. Leading scorer Aubrey Latham could only manage seven points on the night against the tough Molloy. The Lions had four in double-figure scoring, led by Amanda Bartlett with 25 points.

Second chance opportunities hurt the Eagles as they gave up 16 offensive boards, which led to 19 points. Post was also outscored by 10 points at the free throw line on the night.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as the host Felician at 1:00 pm.
