Bridgeport Defeats Post 81-62 In Women’s Hoops

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (November 23, 2011) The Post University women's basketball team fell in Bridgeport Wednesday afternoon. The loss is the Eagles second straight as they now stand at 2-3 overall.

The Eagles kept it close for most of the first half and had an early 7-5 lead. Bridgeport pulled ahead by four at 18-14, but Post came back to tie it at 20-20 with 11:21 left in the first. The Purple Knights stretched the lead to 10. The Eagles closed the gap to five points with six minutes remaining, but let Bridgeport take a 42-32 lead into the locker room. Jacquelynne Pugh had 11 points in the first.

Bridgeport jumped on Post in the second half, using a 30-11 run in the first 10 minutes to pull ahead by 29 at 72-43. The Eagles slowly chipped away, outscoring the Purple Knights 19-9 down the stretch, but it was too little too late as they fell 81-62.

Aubrey Latham led all scorers with 24 points and also grabbed seven rebounds in the contest. Pugh finished 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-3 for three for 17 points. Monique Chance had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. Turnovers were a problem for the Eagles as they had 23 on the day, to Bridgeport's 12 giveaways.

Post will be back at home on Tuesday night against Molloy College.
