Raven Wright-James scored 19 points and Post University survived a furious late rally from Wilmington University Saturday afternoon to escape with a 73-71 win.
After a driving layup by Wilmington's Lauren Brown tied the game at 71 with 12 seconds to go, the Eagles'
Kelli Reynolds broke free from the Wilmington defense, took a long inbounds pass and laid the ball off the glass for the go-ahead score.
Wilmington failed to get off a shot as time expired.
Post University (5-7, 3-2 CACC) led by as many as 21 points, but Wilmington went on an incredible 31-10 run over the final 8 minutes, bringing the Wildcats all the way back.
Brown's layup with 12 seconds left completed the comeback, but it was short-lived, as Reynolds reclaimed the lead for the Eagles just seconds later.
The Eagles stumbled out of the gate, falling behind 11-0 before responding with a dominant 31-7 stretch that gave them a 31-18 lead.
Post University led 40-23 at halftime.
Wright-James led the Eagles with 19 points, and Reynolds added 17 points and 8 rebounds for the Eagles, who won their third consecutive game.
Casey Brooks had 11 points and 6 rebounds for the Eagles.
Wilmington (2-12, 2-5 CACC) was led by guard Courtney Coleman, who scored a game-high 25 points.
Lauren Brown added 14 points and 5 assists for the Wildcats.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Thursday when they travel to Felician College to take on the Golden Falcons.
