Goldey Beacom Wins over Women's Basketball 80-72

WATERBURY, Conn (February 25, 2010) Post University's Women's Basketball team lost their last home game of the 2009-2010 season on Thursday afternoon against Goldey Beacom 80-72. The Eagles are now 6-10, 2-16 CACC while the Lightning improve to 16-10, 12-6 CACC.

Aubrey Latham scored a game-high 23 points adding 8 boards, while
Mallorie Michalak added 18. Goldey Beacom's Devonne Richardson scored 15 points with 14 rebounds for the double double.
The Eagles came out of the locker room strong to start the game, building a 13 point lead with 11:35 to play in the opening stanza. In the closing minutes of the half, the Lightning struck when Richardson hit a layup followed by a jump shot from Janae Weldon cutting the Eagle lead to 4. By the half, Post University had a slim 36-35 lead.
Latham scored first in the second half for the Eagles, but Richardson would respond with a layup and a free throw on the following play to tie the game at 38.
By the 11 minute mark, Goldey Beacom expanded their lead to 61-49 after Evebonee Acosta hit a layup. The lead would remain between seven and twelve points for the rest of the game, as the Lightning held on for the 80-72 point win.
Post University will play their final game of the season on Saturday at USP.
