Felician Downs Eagles 71-53 in Home Conference Opener

WATERBURY, Conn (December 9, 2010) Both Mallorie Michalak and Kelli Reynolds scored 16 points, but it was not enough for Post University as they fell to Felician College 71-53 Thursday night in Waterbury.

Felician had five players score in double figures including 16 points by Katrina Plummer. Quay Baskerville netted 10 points with 10 rebounds, while Destiny Barnett scored 13 points with 10 boards putting both players in double digits.

The visiting Golden Falcons of Felician took the lead early in the contest and would never look back. An Eagle three pointer from Kelli Reynolds knotted the game at eight just seven minutes in. By the halftime break, Felician had extended the lead back to nine with a 28-19 edge.

The spread hovered around ten for the first ten minutes of the second half before the Eagle offense came alive. Taking advantage of two turnovers by Felician, Michalak and Reynolds each hit a pair of free throws cutting the lead to six.

On the next possession, Felician's Tierra Cleaves hit a three, killing all momentum Post University had. From that point on Felician slowly built their lead to as high as 19 and the eventual 71-53 victory.

Post University will return to competition on Saturday as the Eagles host Nyack at 1pm in the Drubner Center.
