WATERBURY, Conn.--The New York Institute of Technology women's basketball team defeated Post University Tuesday night, 62-56. Cierra Baker scored 13 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for NYIT. 

Post University (0-3) led 34-33 at halftime, but the Bears (1-1) utilized a balanced scoring attack to put away Post University in the second half. Denise Crawford and Alexis Tyson each scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds as NYIT held off the Eagles. 

Eight different players scored for the Bears, and six players had at least six points.

Post University was led by Casey Brooks, who scored 10 points. Elizabeth Johnson scored 6 points and had 8 rebounds for the Eagles. 

Diyasha Brewington also had a solid game for Post University, finishing with 6 points and 7 rebounds.

Post University returns to action Thursday night when they take on Bridgeport in Waterbury.
