WATERBURY, Conn (January 23, 2010) Post University's Women's Basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season over Chestnut Hill College 72-49, Saturday afternoon in Waterbury. The win improves the Eagles to 5-10, 1-5 CACC, while the Griffins fall to 2-14, 1-7 CACC.

Post University's Elizabeth Johnson scored 16 points and Monique Chance registered 15 points adding 13 rebounds for the double double. Chestnut Hill's Lindsay Alexander had a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. 

In the opening four minutes of the game, the Eagles opened a 10-4 advantage. Chance pulled down eight rebounds in the first half alone, in addition to five points. Johnson hit two momentum building three pointers, both assisted by Mallorie Michalak. At the end of the half, Post University had a 34-17 point lead.

In the second half, Post University continued to attack the Griffins outshooting Chestnut Hill 40.3 percent to 27.5 percent from the floor in the game. Johnson would shoot 3-of-6 from long range for the Eagles, with help from Michalak who dished out 11 assists.

Post University's Women's Basketball team will be back in action again on Tuesday night against Bloomfield. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm. The Men's game will follow at 8pm.
