Women's Basketball Wins Home Opener 58-42

WATERBURY, Conn (November 20, 2009) In the first home game of the season the Leady Eagles Basketball team picked up its first win of the season over New York Tech 58-42. The win improves the team's record to 2-1.

The Eagles fought to a 17 point halftime lead that they would not relinquish. With 10:13 to play in the second half, NYIT cut the led to one, but a layup from Mallorie Michalak would restart the offense to earn a 58-42 victory.

Michalak led scoring for the Eagles with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jhenel Franklin registered her first career double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, 11 on the defensive side.

Post University will host Southern Connecticut State on Saturday at the Drubner Center.
